GEAR UP Week at SHS
Springfield High School will be hosting GEAR UP Week from September 23-27 in conjunction with the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC). This is part of our efforts to create a culture of post-secondary readiness and planning here at SHS, and to ensure that each student leaves SHS with a clear, appropriate, and ambitious plan for their life after high school.
The counseling team at SHS has several exciting events planned for students during this week. These include a launch assembly where we highlight GEAR UP’s role in our school and the services available to students, introduce our new Cosmo of the Month incentive for our senior class, and launch a post-secondary scavenger hunt. We will also host a breakfast for our 9th grade students to share a little bit more about GEAR UP, help them begin some thinking about their lives after high school, and encourage them to become GEAR UP students.
All students at SHS receive personalized support for post-secondary planning. Each is assigned a counselor that they work with in Grades 10-12 and an advisor who works with them each year they are enrolled at SHS. If you have questions about the services SHS offers for post-secondary planning, please contact the Counseling Office at 802.885.7914.
