Family-Teacher Conference Nights at SHS

Springfield High School will host family-teacher conferences on Thursday, November 7 from 3:00 - 7:00 pm. Friday, November 8 will be a FLEX Friday for all students.

Family-Teacher Conferences
Classroom Teachers
Teachers will be on hand throughout the evening to meet with families, discuss student progress, and work with families to support student growth. Teachers have their dinner break from 5:00 - 5:30 pm, so no conferences are available during this time.

Counselors
Counselors will be available from 3:00 - 5:00 in the front hallway area. We particularly encourage senior families to drop in during this time to work with counselors on the student's post-graduation plans. If a student isn't sure what he/she will do after graduation, this is a great time to discuss your interests and options! From 5:00 - 5:45, the counselors will present on the College Application Process--this is a step-by-step explanation of what you need to do to apply to college or technical school and how to apply for financial aid. We strongly encourage juniors, seniors and their parents who have not yet applied to attend this presentation so that you understand what you need to do to submit applications. The counselors will then be in the front hallway area from 5:45 - 6:30 to meet with families about classes, scheduling, and future planning.

Administration
Ms. Hathorn and Mr. Ruppel will be available from 3:00 - 7:00 pm to meet with families about any questions or concerns that families have about life at SHS. We will also have information about our advisory program, our school's shift to proficiency-based learning, and other change efforts underway in our school.

We hope to see you on Thursday, November 7!

FLEX Friday
SHS held its first FLEX Friday in October, and feedback from students and staff was positive. We will hold another one of these days on Friday. Students have worked with their advisor to craft a schedule for the day that will meet their needs and ensure that they are making progress towards their course proficiencies. There are three FLEX blocks available followed by an extended advisory. As a reminder, this is a required school day for all students.
