International Trips Programs
Please contact Mr Lievense [email protected]
Any family, teacher or student can participate.
This is our second year participating together, and last year was a great success. Students are still in contact with each other. The program, designed to promote mutual understanding and learning, emphasizes cultural immersion, allowing students to gain insights into American life while sharing their own traditions and experiences.
Host Family Responsibilities
From March 22 (Sunday) through March 26 (Thursday), host families offer accommodations and meals at home for exchange students, creating a warm and inviting environment that encourages cultural exchange. Families must complete a host family application and agree to the program's terms.
Last year, our families visited Dartmouth College for a tour and lunch; toured a maple sugar-making house; went to Koto Japanese Steakhouse for a hibachi meal; and had a potluck going-away party.
The SHS, teachers, and student guides will be responsible for integrating exchange students into their classrooms during school hours, providing an immersive educational experience.
About Participants
EdFuture has chosen about 12 Japanese high school students from diverse regions across Japan, including Tokyo, Osaka, Okayama, and Yamagata. These students will engage in cultural and language exchange with their American counterparts, creating opportunities for meaningful connections. The selection process involved evaluating essays and conducting interviews to identify students who demonstrate both enthusiasm and preparedness for the program.
Host students are welcome to participate in activities in Boston, including the Harvard campus tour on March 21 and the MIT campus tour on March 22. Japanese students are responsible for their personal expenses, including meals outside the home, activity fees, and insurance. To prepare for the Boston study trip, they attend five pre-session workshops organized by EdFuture. Additionally, each student develops a unique passion project to explore and pursue during their stay in Boston, enriching their learning experience.
Staff/Chaperon
The EdFuture team brings a wealth of experience in education and foreign exchange programs, with many staff members having teaching backgrounds. They will actively support students by visiting the school and checking in to ensure a positive and seamless experience.
